Killer Queen
This project was an accessory photoshoot inspired by the renaissance artist Caravaggio. When looking at Caravaggio’s work, there are many religious but also dark and often gruesome themes. During his time, it was tough for women to rise to positions of power (and it still is today.) The storyline behind this shoot is a queen who murders her husband so she can rule on her own. Some elements symbolize a loss of innocence and a touch of Shakespearean drama. I am not implying that murder is ok. Instead, I am adding a feminist twist to a classic artist’s work and highlighting the many hardships women endured during this time (and continue to abide.)
