Theogony: Hades &Persephone

This shoot was based on the Hades and Persephone story. Persephone was the Goddess of spring and the daughter of Demeter, the Greek Goddess of harvest and agriculture. Hades is the King of the Underworld. Whether or not their relationship was loving or Hades kidnapped Persephone is often debatable. However, after eating a few seeds from one of Hade’s pomegranates, Persephone had to stay in the Underworld, and she and Hades were married. Her mother, Demeter, refused to bless the earth until she got her daughter back, so they struck a bargain. During the fall and winter months, Persephone would spend time in the Underworld with Hades and return to earth with her mother for the spring and summer months, thus, giving us the change in seasons.
